去年聞いたアンソニー・ホロヴィッツのMagpie Murdersがとても面白かったので、同じ作者のシャーロック・ホームズのパスティーシュにも挑戦してみました。
英語版の表紙がとてもよく内容を表しているとあとから見て感心した。
アメリカ人のFrederick Chaseが語り手。ナレーションのJulian Rhind-Tutt さんはイングランド人のようだ。アメリカ訛りが上手いかどうかよく分からなかったが、スコットランド訛りやアイルランド訛りも出てくるから朗読は大変そう。
ストーリーは素晴らしく、すっかり引き込まれて聞いていました。
そしてあの驚くようなラスト。ものすごくのめりこんで聞いていたので衝撃すぎた・・・夜中にそのあたりのものを破壊しそうになっちゃった。
モリアーティの次には、第二部 The Three Monarchsが続きます。
こちらはワトスンの語る正統派のパスティーシュ。
デレク・ジャコビがワトスン。魔性の美老人ワトスン。
このオーディオブックお買い得すぎる。
